My Beautiful Place

Far beyond the horizon is my beautiful place Surfers Paradise...

I could see the sea water as it was smashing together and washed up on the shore. I could also see a huge lego man. He was flat on his big back. It was so amazing, I couldn’t believe my eyes. People were jumping off of the wharves around the beach and even jumping off the enormous lego man - they were going wild. It was one of the greatest and best things I had ever seen in my hole entire life. I was shocked.

I could hear people shouting and people splashing in the water. I could also hear the sound of little children crying as if someone had scared them.

I could feel the cool breeze as it ran up my spine like a cheetah. I could feel the cold sand running through my finger tips. It felt so nice. The shells they were so wrinkly and so warm as well. I could also feel blobs of sand stuck in between the corners of my toes.

I could smell the beautiful flowers that were in the pot plants next to me. I could smell the nice and yummy food coming from the cafes around me.

Last but not least, I could taste taste the sea water as if the sea was spitting at me. I could taste my delicious juice box that I was holding in my velvet hand.

This beautiful place isn’t just only a beautiful place it’s MY beautiful place.

By Destiny.

Describing Piri Weepu.

When I felt the wind run up my back I couldn't wait for the action of the game to start. When I sat down on my comfortable seat, I could feel the excitement tinkling in my stomach.

Then finally the Haka started. I could see Piri Weepu slapping his hands against his chest like a true Maori warrior.I could see his Maori patterned tattoos on his arm. I heard his strong and loud manly voice shouting out the starting of the haka . He was so frightening it was like I was being threatened to live or die by a warrior. It was so frightening.

But then when he got the blue rugby ball he ran through everyone as if their was no one there on the field. His black hair brushed back, then when he was that close to the try line then he dived down as if he was flying and scored a try. I was so amazed. After that, he ran back to all his team mates when he was running I could see his white rugby boots getting pushed up against the lushes grass. His team mates came towards him and patted his back in joy.

And that night I will never forget.

Buddy Writing

Today we did some buddy writing with room7.We helped them to re-craft their writing samples. This is me and my buddy Niko I hope we get to do this again,it was fun!

Tsunami Description

I
was standing behind the camera.  I could see all the waves crashing up
against the buildings and houses.  I could see all the destruction
happening.  It was chaos.  I couldn’t believe my eyes...It was terrible
and horrible...

I
could hear the wind pushing the waves and making them powerful.  I
could hear the people screaming and crying.  I could hear alarms going
off like dogs.

The tsunami was so frightening, it was making buildings bust and fall with its big powerful waves.

I couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw the big waves submerging into much more bigger waves.  It was very catastrophic!

But
I would always glare at the most biggest wave.  It was big and round.
While I would glare, I could see people running.  It was very
destructive.  When I would see the people get washed away by the waves
and sea water.

Layers of the earth

WALT-make a model of the layers of the earth out of play-dough.

So...that when we learn about natural disasters we can use our knowledge of the layers to understand them better.

To...help us in topic and science and learn about the earth around us.

The crust contains continents and seas. The thickness of the crust is 15-75km.

The next layer is the upper mantle.  It is 400km thick. It’s made out of iron, magnesium and silicates.

The lower mantle is more dense then the upper.  It is 2300km thick.

The outer core is a liquid.  It contains iron, nickel and sulphur.  The outer core is 2300km
deep.

The inner core is solid. It also contains iron, nickel and sulphur.  The inner cores temperature is 6650 degrees Celsius!

My Marae recount

My Marae Recount

I tingled with excitement as we marched into the cold office with our school bags and our delicious lunch. We sat down in the hall so Ms Hansel could go over the rules. After that we set off on our journey. We all got welcomed into the marae. When I stepped into the marae my heart leaped...

I couldn't believe my eyes. I bowled my head down to show respect to some of the ancestors that had died. I knew each pattern and carving told a story. When my cold hands touched the ground, my stomach had the butterflies. Then kaumatua said a karakia and introduced himself. Then he said a speech about the patterns and the carvings. Then Arapeta stood up and said his Whikorero. After that, the whole senior syndicate sang a song to kaumatua William and the kids that went to the school there. After that it was time for our interval. I ate my lunch next to Ngatokurua. After that they separated the boys and the girls. Us girls had to go to the marae and the boys went down to the bottom of the hill.

The girls split up into three groups. The the first group was using the poi, the second line did the actions and the last line used the rakau. Whaea Celeste taught us. We each supported each other and didn’t laugh if someone done something wrong. After that it was time for lunch, we all finished our lunch and then went into the marae to show the boys what we had practised.
We showed the boys what we had learnt. I liked the boys haka. When we finished we sang some songs to the people and the kids.

After that we all left and went back to school.

That day I learnt that the most important thing to the Maori people is their knowledge. I also learnt that there are 5 parts in a Marae; the heart, spine, arms, ribs and the head.
